Programs

Extension
The extension program consists of three components:

1) Training elected officials at the county level on duties, responsibilities and policy choices

2) Understanding the local economy, economic development and the general economic outlook

3) Economic impacts and the importance of agriculture and natural resources in Florida.

All programs are targeted to decision makers; agriculture producers, agribusiness, state and county elected officials and residents. Thousands of policy decisions are made by elected officials every year in Florida that impact agriculture and natural resources. Most all counties are looking for ways to sustain, grow and understand their local economy and the importance of agriculture/natural resources. Total educational efforts are between 30-40 programs per year, counsel is sought from multiple states (27) nationally on training elected officials and advice to agencies ranging from FDACS, to the legislature, to legislative committees has resulted in frequent consultations and testimony on these issues.
