Presentation Highlights:

Palm Beach County:

  • has experienced high growth in population, jobs and personal income
  • possesses unique land and water resources in the Everglades Agricultural Area and along the eastern Atlantic Coast
  • produces the larges value of agricultural crops in Florida, and among the largest in the U.S., lead by sugarcane, vegetables and ornamental plants
  • agriculture is linked to value-added processing and distribution, and exports throughout the world

In 2014, agriculture and food industries generated:

  • 158,976 full-time/part-time jobs, representing 19% of total county employment
  • $16.85 billion in industry output
  • $9.50 billion in Gross Domestic Product, accounting for 14% of County GDP (including multiplier effects)

Output contributions of ag-food industries grew 42% during 2001-14, or 3.3% annually in inflation-adjusted terms.
