NEW Graduate Student Poster Competition

UF’s Food Resource Economics Department is excited to host a graduate student poster competition at the Agricultural Policy Outlook Conference on April 16th, 2026, at the UF/IFAS Mid-Florida Research & Education Center in Apopka, FL! This competition provides graduate students with an opportunity to gain experience in communicating policy issues to a broad audience and in poster creation.

Entries should address a current agricultural policy issue and can be based on the graduate student's ongoing research. The topic should be relevant for Florida agriculture, food, or natural resources, though it may be explored at the federal, state, and/or local level.

Awards

The top three competitors will be recognized during the closing remarks of the conference. They will each receive a certificate and a cash prize. Cash prizes are as follows:

First place: $500
Second place: $300
Third place: $200

Timeline

Friday, April 10th, 2026: Registration applications due

Tuesday, April 14th, 2026: Physical posters submitted to Hope Nelson in MCCA 1197

Thursday, April 16th, 2026: Ag Policy Outlook Conference (Mid-Florida Research & Education Center, 2725 S Binion Rd, Apopka, FL, 32703, 9:00am – 4:00pm)

Applications should be submitted via email to Hope Nelson (hope.nelson@ufl.edu). The application should include:

  • The participant's name and contact information
  • Their mentor’s name and contact information
  • The title of the poster
  • A brief summary of the poster (200 words or fewer)

All participants must register as student in-person attendees for the Agricultural Policy Outlook Conference. Use code FRE2026S for a student discount."
