About FRE
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Thank you for joining us in commemorating 100 years of vision, dedication, and progress. This milestone honors those who laid the foundation in 1926, when the UF Department of Agricultural Economics was established to provide Florida’s producers with the economic, marketing, and business insights needed to thrive. Though our scope has expanded and our name has evolved, our mission remains steadfast: to ensure that agricultural and natural resource industries flourish through research, extension, and teaching. Today, Food and Resource Economics (FRE) prepares alumni to think critically and creatively about the economic forces shaping agriculture, food systems, natural resources, and the environment.
Looking ahead, FRE is committed to building stronger connections within our community and with alumni and industry partners. Thanks to donor support, we already provide scholarships and professional opportunities, but the FRE 100 Fund will further enrich the campus experience by fostering collaboration, innovation, and discovery. From celebratory events and seminars to field trips and hands-on learning, these initiatives will strengthen networks and inspire future leaders. None of this would be possible without your generosity—thank you for believing in our vision and partnering with us on this historic journey.
