The UF/IFAS Economic Impact Analysis Program (EIAP) is involved in the assessment of the socio-economic impacts of marine hazard events such as harmful algal blooms and oil spills that impact the State of Florida. The scope and severity of the impacts to human activity in a given region are dependent on the level of exposure to the marine hazard event as well as the existence of and dependence on the human activities that are impacted by marine hazard events, making assessments of impacts complex.

This information informs decision-making processes at the local, state, and federal levels related to marine hazard event response and relief and can be used to inform national-scale efforts to quantify the socioeconomic impacts of and measure community vulnerability and resiliency to these types of marine hazard events.

Information about current projects as well as recent EIAP reports and academic publications in this topic area can be found on this page.
